We will have our last social studies test Wednesday June 9. This will be the last test for the year.

The kids are enjoying the swimming, and I can tell that they are ready for their summer vacation to begin, aren't we all!

Dare graduation is tomorrow at 1:45. Next week is our class party Thursday June 17, which is a half day. Thank you to those who have sent in their $6.00 for the party, if you have not, we are still collecting. Friday June 18 is also a half day and it is our last day of school.

I have really enjoyed teaching this class this year, it was one of the best years that I can remember. So thank you for a wonderfulyear. I hope everyone has a safe and fun summer.

We will be taking our field trip this Thursday to the VA. Beach Convention Center. Please pack a lunch for your child on that day.

We are still learning about the midwestern states. A capitals and states test will be this Thrusday.

We are finishing up with fractions in math and our test will be tomorrow Tuesday. My class has been doing a nice job with the fraction.

In science we are learning about electricity, and we will be doing some hands on activities with this.
The next due date for the science project is tomorrow. Thank you for those who have been on time with the first due date for the science project. Due dates are printed in the students science packet. Please help your child with this project, but don't do the project for them. It is easy to spot students whose parents basiclly did the project for their child, especially when the student has to get up and present their projct to the class.
I did not get around to check off behavior sheet today Mon Feb.22 because I ran out of time, but everyone received a green check today.

Science Fair material have been past out. Feb 16 is the first due date for the Topic, Statment of the problem and the Hypothesis. Your child has all this information with them, so hopefully you are aware of this information. Other due dates: Feb 23, March 2,

Besides the math homework, I am assigning science reading in the science book, pages 70 -73. Please have your child look up the definitions for the four highlighted words on those pages and write them down on a seperate sheet of paper to turn in on Friday.

If you are checking this you are propably shoocked to see this. I have been preoccupied with some personal matters, so I apologize for not keeping up.

We have been reviewing math, social studies and science in the classroom because we have assessments coming up in February. In science we have been talking about science experiments which we will be doing one in the class together. Rosemont Forest will be having a science fair April 7, the week we come back from spring break. All the students in fourth and fifth will be doing a science experiment at home. I will hand out guidlines for my class to follow. We encourage you to particpate with your child with their experiment. More information will be forth coming.

For this weeks spelling words the activity is on the bottom of their spelling paper. There is a social studies test Tuesday Nov. 17. Last Tuesday their social studies homework was to look over the Virginia region worksheets that we have been doing in class. Then we had "The Storm." I have to give this test Tuesday Nov. 17 because our grade are due Wednesday Nov. 18. I did not give any math homework, nor did I give a DIGS this week, hopefully allowing the students to concentrate on the social studies test.
As you know next week is a short week starting with a half day on Wednesday and Thursday and Friday off. I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving.

We are still learning about the five regions of Virginia in social studies. We are writing our information and coloring the different regions in a flip book, as well as reading about it in our social studies book. In science we are still learning about the weather with the water cycle and the different weather instruments that a meteorologist would use. We will also be learning about the different air masses and fronts that occurs in the United States as well.
In Language Arts we have been reading some mysteries stories and writing some mysteries stories as well. With writing, we are finishing up a narrative paper about our favorite place to go.

I can't believe that October is almost gone, and I know the students will be looking forward for the Fall Party this Friday.

I want to thank all the parents for helping their child with looking over their homework. They need our help as much as we can give it.

FYI, this past week we had a lot of students out because of sickness. I had a total of six students in our room alone. I'm noticing that a lot of them have a high fever. Please be on the watch.

We are working on our first writing project which is a narrative about their favorite place that they have been. We just finished up our second unit in math, and now we are going into multiplication. In science, we are studying about the weather, and in social studies we are learning about the different regions in Virginia. So now when you ask your child what are you learning in school and they say, " nothing really",you have some idea and maybe you can ask them to tell you about the weather or the region of Virginia.

Just a couple of reminders. Please remember to turn in the Spelling Practice Test and the activities every Thursday. DIGS is due every Friday. Starting next week late DIGS will be counted off one letter grade for being late.

My class is really working hard on getting points for their table. The table with the highest points gets to eat in the class room. You can earn points by being a good listener and doing what is asked. This sounds easy but we still need to work on this a lot better, and trying to mind our own business.

Thank you to the people who have brought back the Entertainment Book or the money. Those were due Sept. 30. One last item, PTA is trying to get 100% membership so please consider joining.
